Our commitment to operating responsibly — from the farms we source from to the way we deliver and service our equipment across the UK.

Our Sourcing Principles

We believe great coffee and ethical sourcing are inseparable. Every coffee we supply is sourced from farms and cooperatives that meet our standards for:

• Fair pricing — We work with roasters who pay above Fairtrade minimums and invest in long-term relationships with producers
• Traceability — We know the origin, farm, and processing method of every coffee we supply
• Environmental farming practices — Shade-grown, low-chemical, and water-conscious farming methods where possible
• Community investment — Preference for cooperatives that reinvest in local infrastructure, education, and healthcare

Reducing Waste

Coffee waste is a significant environmental issue. We actively work to reduce it across our supply chain:

• Right-sizing — We help clients choose machines that match their actual usage, reducing over-brewing and waste
• Compostable packaging — Our bean bags use compostable or recyclable materials wherever available
• Coffee grounds — Used grounds from commercial machines can be composted — we can advise on collection schemes
• Consumables — We supply only what's needed, delivered on a schedule that minimises excess stock and waste

Water Efficiency

Water is the most critical ingredient in coffee — and one of the world's most precious resources. Our approach:

• We recommend mains-fed water coolers over bottled water to eliminate plastic bottle waste
• All machines we supply include or recommend water filtration to reduce descaling frequency and extend machine life
• We advise on correct machine sizing to avoid unnecessary water use from over-capacity equipment

Our Operations

• Route optimisation — Our delivery and engineer routes are planned to minimise mileage and fuel consumption
• Machine longevity — We prioritise repair over replacement. A well-maintained machine lasting 10 years has a fraction of the environmental footprint of three machines lasting 3 years each
• Parts and refurbishment — We stock genuine parts and offer refurbishment services to extend machine life
• Packaging — We use recycled and recyclable packaging for all deliveries where possible

What You Can Do

As a Cafe Perfection customer, you can make a meaningful difference:

• Use reusable cups where possible — we can supply branded reusable cups for your team
• Compost coffee grounds — they're excellent for gardens and allotments
• Keep your machine well-maintained — a clean machine uses less energy and lasts longer
• Choose plant-based milk alternatives — oat milk has significantly lower environmental impact than dairy
• Report faults early — small issues fixed quickly prevent larger repairs and premature replacement

Sustainability is a journey, not a destination. We're continuously reviewing our supply chain, operations, and product range to reduce our environmental impact. We're committed to being transparent about where we are and honest about where we need to improve.
