Commercial Coffee Machine Installation Checklist: What to Confirm Before Delivery
Short answer: confirm the exact machine, exact location and exact manufacturer installation requirements before delivery. Most installation problems come from assumptions that could have been checked earlier.
Not every commercial coffee machine needs the same services, so use this as a planning checklist rather than a substitute for the model's technical documentation.
1. Confirm the final machine and configuration
Check the exact model, milk system, accessories, payment system and any ancillary equipment. Small configuration changes can alter the space or services required.
2. Measure the location properly
Record width, depth and height, but also think about doors, lids, hoppers, drip trays and service access. The machine needs enough room to be used, refilled, cleaned and maintained rather than merely enough room to fit.
3. Verify the electrical requirement
Use the manufacturer's documentation for voltage, load, plug/socket or hard-wiring requirements. Do not assume two machines with similar dimensions have the same electrical requirement.
4. Verify water and drainage
If the machine is plumbed, confirm the water connection and route. If drainage is required, confirm that too. If the machine is manual fill, plan how staff will refill it without creating an awkward daily process.
5. Confirm filtration or water treatment
Use the equipment specification and site conditions to select the correct treatment. The filter also needs a location that can be accessed when it is due for replacement.
6. Plan milk and ingredient storage
Fresh-milk systems need a practical milk arrangement. Powdered systems need space for ingredients and replenishment. Also plan where cleaning products, spare consumables and waste will be stored.
7. Check access for delivery and service
Door widths, stairs, lifts, parking, security and site induction can all affect an installation. A multi-site or restricted-access location is easier to manage when these details are collected before the engineer travels.
8. Include payment/connectivity requirements
If the machine uses a cashless payment device, telemetry or network connection, confirm the required connectivity and account setup before commissioning.
9. Plan handover and cleaning
The job is not finished when the machine powers on. The user should know how to operate it, carry out the correct routine cleaning and find the relevant support information.
