The Roasting Journey
We didn't guess. We tested.
Before a single bag of Café Perfection coffee reached a workplace, it went through a process most coffee brands skip entirely: real-world machine testing, at scale, in the environments where it would actually be used.
Hundreds of Blends. One Standard.
Over the years, we tested hundreds of blends — different origins, roast levels, grind profiles, and processing methods. Not in a controlled tasting environment, but in the machines we install and service every day across the UK.
We pulled shots through bean-to-cup machines running 50, 100, 200 cups a day. We tested how blends held up under heat stress, inconsistent grind settings, and varying water hardness. We measured extraction quality, not just flavour.
Most blends failed. Not because they tasted bad — but because they weren't built for this.
Why We Don't Roast Ourselves
We made a deliberate decision early on: don't roast. Partner with the best.
Roasting is a craft that takes decades to master. Rather than compromise quality by doing it in-house, we work with specialist roasters who have that expertise — and we bring ours: the knowledge of what actually works in commercial machines.
It's a smarter division of labour. They perfect the roast. We specify exactly what we need — and we test it until it's right.
Tested in Machines, Not Just Cupping Tables
Cupping is how the coffee industry evaluates flavour. It's useful — but it tells you nothing about how a bean performs under commercial extraction.
Our testing process is different. Every blend we consider goes through machine trials across multiple equipment types, water conditions, and usage volumes. If it doesn't perform consistently in the real world, it doesn't make the range.
That's the standard. And it's why our blends work where others don't.
